A/D and P/R Connections

Most ODIS supported A/D boards have a trigger I/O port and one or more signal inputs. Similarly, most Pulser/Recievers have one or more Trigger I/O connections, one or more signal outputs, and Pulse/Echo or Through Transmission connections to the ultrasonic transducer.

Single-Channel System Examples

Note: The configurations below use a P/R in Pulse-Echo mode.

BNC (external) triggering connections. The trigger on the A/D is connected to the Sync/Trigger of the P/R (1), which is set for Internal triggering. When the pulser triggers, the transducer is excited (2) and the A/D is triggered at the same time. The signal output (3) is passed to the A/D for processing.
Threshold triggering connections. The pulser exites the transducer (1) and sends the signal out to the A/D (2). If the signal exceeds the programmed threshold, it will be collected for processing. A connection to the Trigger on the A/D is not needed.

Multi-Channel System Examples

Encoder triggering connections for a 2-channel system. The encoder count is connected to both A/D boards (1) via the primary or secondary encoder connection. Triggering ((2), (3), (4) and (5)) proceeds independently on both channels. Each channel requires its own P/R.
