Typical advanced Mode setup

Advanced Mode allows for complete control of all sub-sections of the ODIS software. It also has many more options for scanning, including Rotational scans, Contour Following, and Beam Profiles.

Using Advanced Mode

In order to use Advanced Mode, either:

  1. The system configuration Mode key must be set to normal. This will load the Basic Mode as the default unless the default login mode has been changed.
  2. A use with the mode set to "Advanced" must login (See the Security Manager).

Advanced Mode Controls

In Advanced Mode, each subsection has a separate control form. To access controls, press the buttons on the left side of the screen. Some forms will be duplicated if there is more than one device (e.g. one Pulser/Receiver control form will appear for every detected digital Pulser/Receiver)

The buttons on the left side of the main window open and close the various control forms. If a control form is not available, pressing on the button will do nothing.

From top to bottom, the control buttons are:


Digital Oscilloscope

Digital Oscilloscope

The Digital Oscilloscope is identical to the setup found in Advanced mode, with the exception that the A/D and Gates are set in the Instrument Tab on the main Setup window.

Motion Control

Motion Control Form

The motor control window is used to display position information and manually move axes. The system can be reinitialized and Home positions can be set as well.

Scan Manager

Scan Manager Form

The Scan Manager form contains the controls for configuration scans. The possible scan modes are:

  • Linear
  • Tray
  • Rotational (NDT Only)
  • Beam Profile
  • Megaboard
  • Point
  • Timed

In addition, in ODIS-NDT, Linear and Rotational scans can be complemented with complex Contour Following on two or more axes.

An Options page sets certain global scan options (trigger modes, disk caching, etc.

Typical Pulser/Reciever control form. Controls and settings will vary depending on the type of P/R.

More than one P/R form may appear if multiple pulser are present.

Note: In Advanced Mode, a Pulser is Not turned on by default. The user must turn on the pulser before operating the system.
